A private commission on the Blenheim Palace Estate to design a roofed entertaining deck suitable for a 10-12 seat dining table.
The area inside the posts is sized to suit the table.
The area outside the posts is kept clear as a service walk way.
We laid the decking in a herringbone pattern outside the posts and a straight pattern inside the posts.
This provided a subtle distinction between the table area and surounding walkway, with the herringbone pattern mirroring the direction of travel around the edge of the deck.
Rainwater slots were incorporated into the back of the roof, producing a cascade effect during heavy rain.
Through our supplier, we were able to source enough Grade 1 decking of the required length to build the entire structure from single lengths of timber.
The steps accessing the lawn were faced in decking timber to seamlessly match the edge of the main structure.

Timber sizes were carefully chosen balance aesthetics with structural requirements.
The corner mitres are kept as tight as possible.
The small reeded ridges rapping around the corner add a delicate touch to the frame. These can be replaced in a different style if required.
